Men, It's Possible To Regrow Your Hair

Clinically-proven to work, generic Rogaine is FDA-approved to treat male pattern baldness. Minoxidil, the active ingredient in Rogaine, revives shrunken hair follicles by reopening blood supply to the scalp. Even though minoxidil is famous for helping sprout new hair on the top of the scalp, there are plenty reports of success at the hairline as well.

Other brand names for minoxidil include Apo-Gain, Keranique and Women's Rogaine.

How Does Minoxidil Regrow Hair?

Minoxidil belongs to a class of drugs called vasodilators which relax smooth muscles in blood vessels. Once relaxed, the blood vessels widen resulting in increased blood flow and reopened potassium channels to the hair follicles. With a new supply of oxygen, blood, and nutrients, the follicles restart their function of growing hair.

Minoxidil 2% is proven to be an effective treatment for baldness in men and women. Baldness is also called alopecia. A temporary side-effect of using minoxidil may be initial hair loss (shedding). But don't worry, new hair growth should follow.

Is Male Pattern Baldness Different Than Going Bald?

Not really. If a male has "male pattern baldness " then plainly stated, he IS going bald, i.e. losing his hair. The word "male" is added to distinguish male and female baldness due to their different patterns. With men, hair loss begins at the top of the scalp and hairline, known as a receding hairline. For women, baldness using begins at the top of the scalp with thinning of hair at the part.
